Winslow will be the grand opening host community for Arizona Humanities’ statewide tour of the Smithsonian’s Americans exhibition. Developed by Museum on Main Street from an exhibition by the National Museum of the American Indian, Americans explores the nation’s relationship with American Indians through history and popular culture.
The Old Trails Museum will host Americans at our partner venue, in Northland Pioneer College-Winslow’s Entrance Lobby, from August 21 through October 2, 2027, along with opening and closing events and a speaker series.
In conjunction with our community partners, the Old Trails Museum will also develop a companion exhibit, Americans in Winslow, and host additional public programs during Winslow’s six-week tour stop.
Museum on Main Street is a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and state humanities councils across the country. Support is provided by the Smithsonian’s Our Shared Future: 250, a Smithsonian-wide initiative commemorating the nation’s 250th. Signature support for Smithsonian’s Our Shared Future: 250 has been provided by Lilly Endowment Inc. Additional generous contributions have been made by Target.
The last time the Old Trails Museum hosted a Museum on Main Street exhibition was in summer 2013, for Arizona Humanities’ statewide tour of Journey Stories.
