Book Talk & Signing for “Past & Present: Winslow”

The Old Trails Museum is offering a free presentation and book signing on Saturday, November 30, at 5 pm in the La Posada Hotel Ballroom, 303 East Second Street. Author and OTM Director Ann-Mary J. Lutzick will discuss Past & Present: Winslow, the museum’s new Arcadia Publishing title, providing an overview of its content and development process, a question-and-answer session, and a book signing.

Past & Present: Winslow illustrates the city’s history as it is reflected in its enduring sites and buildings, many of which are listed in the National Register of Historic Places. Historic images are presented alongside contemporary photos, the latter of which were shot by professional photographer Jim Buckley (Lutzick and Buckley at left).

Founded by the Atlantic and Pacific Railroad in 1880, Winslow has evolved from a company boomtown into a small city with a historic character defined primarily by its location along US Route 66 since the highway’s designation in 1926. Now known as Historic Route 66, it runs the length of Winslow on Second and Third Streets, which are lined with renovated early to mid-20th-century buildings.

The featured properties in chapters one through four are presented as they would appear to motorists driving through town along the route: progressing east on Second Street, stopping for a chapter at La Posada Hotel, and continuing west on Third Street. The final chapter features sites and buildings elsewhere in Winslow and beyond city limits that further illustrate the area’s rich and varied history.

Past & Present: Winslow is now available at the museum for $25 and through the OTM Online Store, with $5 added to the price for shipping. For the latest updates on all of the Old Trails Museum’s exhibits and programs, subscribe to OTM eNEWS or “like” the museum on Facebook.

“Past & Present: Winslow” Now Available

Past & Present: Winslow, the Old Trails Museum’s new Arcadia Publishing title, is now available! Authored by OTM Director Ann-Mary J. 2025 Historical Calendar Now Available

The Old Trails Museum’s 2025 historical calendar, Winslow in the 1960s, is priced at $12 and is now available at the museum, Arizona 66 Trading Company, La Posada Hotel, On the Corner Gifts, and the Winslow Visitors Center. You can also order calendars through the OTM Online Store, with $3 added to the price for shipping. Your purchase supports the museum, is sales-tax-free, and keeps your shopping dollars local!

The 2025 edition focuses exclusively on the 1960s, a decade filled with significant events for Winslow’s leadership, organizations, and citizens. The large photos roll out chronologically, and many of the small photos relate to the large ones. Historical sources include Winslow Mail articles, archival material from OTM’s collections, and adapted text from OTM publications and exhibits.

OTM Director Ann-Mary Lutzick developed the calendar and Minuteman Press of Flagstaff did the printing. Photographs are from the OTM Collections unless noted; the museum extends its gratitude to Rosemary Siow Natseway and Chris Stinson for loaning their images, and to Jim Buckley and Dan Lutzick for their invaluable feedback. The cover photo is likely of the ribbon-cutting ceremony on October 30, 1964, to mark the completion of the Beeline Highway from Phoenix to Winslow.

OTM’s annual historical calendar is a fundraiser for the museum thanks to its generous advertisers: Barton Architecture, Bojo’s Grill & Sports Club, Cox’s Automotive, Dominique’s On the Corner, Dyna Rock & Sand, Harley Hendricks Realty, Kenna Properties, La Posada Hotel, the Leavitt Group, Mojo Coffee Company, the Rotary Club of Winslow, Snowdrift Art Space, and the Winslow Chamber of Commerce.
