Winslow’s Historic Trails Presented at Hubbell
The Winslow Historical Society and Winslow Centennial Committee continue their year-long series celebrating the city’s history with “All Roads Lead to Winslow.” Join us at the Winslow Visitors Center in the former Hubbell Trading Post, 523 West 2nd Street, on Saturday, February 11, from 2 to 3:30 p.m., when Winslow Historical Society Board Member Curtis Hardy will explore the area’s Native American trails, Spanish explorations, pioneer treks, stage coach adventures, and Mormon settlements that preceded the railroad’s establishment of the Winslow townsite in 1881. He’ll end with a discussion of the National Old Trails Road and Route 66, and will have maps and images on display as well. Second Saturdays in Winslow explore the city’s diverse history in celebration of the Arizona State Centennial on February 14, 2012.
