| THE SMITHSONIAN CAME TO WINSLOW!! In the summer of 2008, Old Trails Museum hosted a six-week run of "Between Fences"-- a traveling exhibit for rural museums that is part of Museum on Main Street (MoMS), a collaboration between the Smithsonian Institution and the Arizona Humanities Council. This program was made possible through the support of the U.S. Congress and various philanthropic foundations. In addition, a grant from the Arizona Council on the Arts helped make possible a performing arts program that showcased seven local artists and groups. |
| Old Trails Museum is proud to have a presence on the Arizona Memory Project (AMP), an online repository sponsored by the Arizona State Library, Archives and Public Records. Our offerings include: "Old Trails Collection Highlights" showcasing a sampling of seven exhibits with 51 items; "Trading Post Families of Winslow" featuring individuals who helped settle our part of the Frontier; "Indigenous Peoples Near Winslow" containing images of Native Americans from the surrounding area; "Harvey Girls of the Winslow Harvey Houses" (there were two) offers a parade of images of the Girls in uniform and street clothes, interesting information about the two Fred Harvey Houses in Winslow, and how the history is kept alive by today's Winslow Harvey Girls, a volunteer organization. For railroad buffs, the AT&SF Railway Company Collection offers hundreds of images. Thousands visit these collections each month, and we plan to add several more. Go to http://azmemory.lib.az.us. |
